Paraquat Lawsuits Swell to Over 300
Nearly 300 complaints have been lodged against Syngenta and Chevron U.S.A. concerning dangerous side-effects of herbicide Paraquat. Plaintiffs allege that permanent brain injuries causing Parkinson’s disease were the result of exposure to the controversial weed killer. Companies such as Chevron, Syngenta, Growmark and others have sold Paraquat-based herbicides including commonly-purchased Gramoxone (manufactured by Syngenta).
The Paraquat lawsuits have been centralized before The Honorable Nancy J. Rosenstengel in the Southern District of Illinois. Trials are slated to begin in November 2022. Many plaintiffs allege that Paraquat manufacturers knew (or should have known) that Paraquat was a dangerous substance that may cause neurological injuries, but sold and distributed the product for decades without issuing warnings.
