Liver Injury Associated with Xarelto: Health Canada Investigates

Responding to two studies suggesting a link between Xarelto usage and liver injury, Canadian regulatory agency Health Canada published a safety review in August 2015 warning Canadians of the new oral anticoagulant’s potential risks. The studies, published by Journal of the American Medical Association and the Journal of Hepatology, reported that treatment with Xarelto can be associated with severe, symptomatic liver injury—yet another dangerous side-effect of the blood thinner. Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals over their alleged negligence in downplaying other Xarelto risks, namely, severe and sometimes irreversible bleeding that can be fatal.

G&E, who represents several individuals affected by the drug, is involved in the Bellwether Selection Committee, is leading the Law & Briefing Committee of the Xarelto multi-district litigation, and has filed numerous complaints on behalf of Xarelto patients and families of lost loved ones who suffered from Bayer and Janssen’s alleged negligence. If you or a loved one experienced complications from taking the drug Xarelto, please call us at 888-207-0382 for a confidential evaluation of your potential claim.
